Attorney-General Applauds Makinde’s Reforms in Public Service

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo SAN, on Wednesday, commended Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for making the state a reference point in public service and judicial reforms in the country.

Report has it that the Attorney-General was a guest on CONVERSATIONS ON ALÓORERADIO, A special programme of Aloore Radio, Oyo State Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.

The Attorney-General who thanked the residents of the State for the overwhelming vote of confidence in Governor Makinde, expressed optimism that Omituntun 2.0 will sustain the achievements recorded during the first term.

Oyewo stressed the priority the governor placed on the welfare and capacity building of Judges in Oyo State, adding that the High-courts of Justice in Ibadan and Ogbomoso are currently experiencing an overhaul.

He said reformation of laws are part of the set guidelines that were pivotal to attaining some objectives of the present administration.
Speaking on the appointment of Judges, the Attorney-General said unlike previous years, it has been merit-based under the present administration.

Prof. Oyewo, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria said under the present administration, every citizen of the State could aspire for any leadership position, without fear of favoritism.
Expressing delight at the swearing-in of Justic Iyabo Yerima, as the substantive Chief Judge of Oyo State, the Attorney-General said it was purely based on merit.

He added that cordial relationship between the Executive and other arms of government points to Governor Makinde’s efficiency in running the public service.
The Professor of Law added that the relationship has given birth to major reforms, as Gov. Makinde’s administration has always used law as an instrument of justice.

The Attorney-General hinted that the Executive has extracted value from the legislative arm, where laws that will increase the State’s internally generated revenue were passed.
He added that Makinde’s Government introduced State Action for Business Environment Reforms, which has encouraged Ease of doing business in the State.
Oyewo said, the present Government has improved the standard of living of the people, adding that Makinde’s administration has never exercised power in an abusive manner.
