As Nigeria marks her 63rd Independence Anniversary, the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin says Nigeria is never a cursed nation.

Hon. Ogundoyin who doubles as the Chairman Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria made the appeal in a statement to commemorate the 2023 Independence Day celebration which marks the 63rd Anniversary.

” Happy Independence celebration to us all. It is the 63rd edition and we are happy to be alive to witness it. I will like to appeal to everyone of us to stop cursing Nigeria as a nation. We are not a cursed nation. Though everyone is feeling the pains of the economic hardship at this time, we however need to remain prayerful and positive minded. “

Quoting from Exodus 22 : 28 which says “Do not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people “, Oyo State Speaker said no matter the level of frustration and hardship, Nigerians should avoid inviting the wrath of God on the nation and its leaders, assuring that the country would get it right someday

According to him, it was never a smooth ride for the present crop of developed countries across the world as they also had tales of woes to narrate in the course of growing their nations and economies.

He charged Government at all levels to borrow a leaf from developed nations by consciously implementing economic and political policies that will help address the problems bedeveling.

” No nation had it smooth developing. It was never a smooth sail hence we should be patient. We should not allow the efforts of our founding fathers and past nationalists to go down the drain. They had a dream of a united and prosperous Nigeria and above all, a giant of Africa and what do we have today? The reverse is the case. “
