Resource Control: Oyo to Verify Consent Letters and Community Development Agreement in Mining Sector

Oyo State Government, through, Oyo State Mineral Development Agency in collaboration with Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee (MIREMCO), will commence the Verification of Consent Letters and Community Development Agreement in the State’s Mining Sector on September 25th to October 27th, 2023.

The Director General and Executive Chairman of Pacesetter Mineral Development Company, Hon. Abiodun Oni Okunrin Jeje, disclosed this while addressing Journalists in his office, at the State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

In order to stop the steal in mining industries where billions have been signed away and billions still in the ground. Oyo State Mineral Development Agency in collaboration with Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee (MIREMCO) embark on verification of consent letters and community development agreement in the state mining sector.

The Director General (DG) of Oyo State Mineral Development Agency Hon. Abiodun Oni made this know while addressing Journalist  in the state in his office, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Hon. Abiodun Oni stated that the reason for this exercise is that state government under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSC feel it is important to stop the stealing and irregularities going on with our collective common wealth by some unscrupulous individual and the state government ready to partner with all stakeholders to instill and sanitize Oyo State mining.

He said the verification will put an end to stealing in mining industry where billions have been signed away .According to him,: The state is blessed with different types of minerals, but if the minerals are not well channel, it won’t be of benefit.

‘I am urging Obas, Land Owners, Miners, Quarry Operators and all other relevant stakeholders to comply with this directive by submitting the letter of consent and the community development agreement to the office of the Director General of Oyo State Mineral Development Agency, Secretariat, Ibadan for verification within the stipulated time and any act of non-compliance will be treated as an economic sabotage against the people/government of the state and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Also speaking at the meeting,the coordinating Director of the Agency, Mrs. Jolade Omidiran, admonished all stakeholders in the mining sector to comply with the directive of the government, saying that it will not be business as usual but business with decorum.
