Return all broken earth moving equipment to the Council Secretariats; Oyo Assembly to LG Chairmen

The Oyo State House of Assembly at its Plenary Proceedings on Tuesday directed all Chairmen across the 33 Local Government and 35 LCDA’s in the State to return all the earth moving equipment that had broken down outside their domain to the various council’s Secretariat.

This was part of the recommendations on a report presented by the Committee Chairman on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours, Hon. Akintunde Olajide and adopted by the whole House.

Presenting the report , Hon. Olajide revealed that many earth moving equipments at the Local Government and LCDA’s such as Tractors , Excavators cat, D6 Bulldozers , Lowbed Trailers and others that are not functional are still serviceable or need repairs for proper usage on roads maintenances across all the Local Government in the State.

The House has however urged the Executive Arm of Government, through the Ministry of Local Government to coordinate the repair of all serviceable earth moving equipment in all Local Government and LCDA’s as a matter of urgency.

In the same vein , the House also directed its Committee on Local Government to meet with all Stakeholders and set the machinery in place to consider the increment of monthly take home of all the Ad – Hoc staff of the Local Government areas in the State from Seventeen thousand naira to Thirty-five thousand naira in order to enable them cope with the Economic hardship in the country.

It will be recall that the House at its sitting of Wednesday, 18th October, 2023 directed the Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours to embark oversight on all 33 Local Government and 35 LCDA’s to have on the spot assessment of earth moving equipments and other activities of the Local Government and LCDA’s.

The House has adjourned its Plenary till Thursday, 8th February 2024.
