Oyo Govt. Restates Commitment to Pensioners’ Welfare

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has restated the commitment of his administration to prioritise welfare of the pensioners and regular payment of their pensions despite the dwindling financial situation in the country.

This is just as the governor disclosed that his administration has has paid about 15 Billion Naira to pensioners in two and half years.

Represented by his Executive Assistant on Administration, Rev. Idowu Ogedengbe, Governor Makinde stated this on the occasion of 2021 National Pensioners Day, held at Pensioners House, Agbarigbo, Onireke, Ibadan.

He enjoined pensioners to support the present administration and contribute their own quota to the economic development of  the State.

Ogedengbe added that the State Government took so much pleasure in prioritizing welfare of the pensioners, adding that, Government would look into their agitations and all their request would be addressed.

“We will continue to pay pensions and gratuity as promised by His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde, we will be very glad to set the pace and adopt crisis free in handling the affairs of the  pensioners.”

Speaking at the event, the State Commissioner for Information, Culture Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun urged pensioners in the State to see Governor Seyi Makinde Government as partners in progress.

He said the present administration had paid 15 Billion Naira to the State Pensioners in Two years, hinting that, Governor Makinde would continue to pay their monthly pensions as the Civil Servants are receiving their salary on the 25th of every months in the State.

In his remark, the State Secretary of the union Comrade Olusegun Abatan commended Governor Seyi Makinde free Health mission for pensioners in the State.

“Just recently, Omititun Medical Mission held a One -Day free Health programme for our members, Ailments such as Malaria, hypertension, eye Challenges were attended to,  members who have the need for minor surgeries have also been booked for the exercise”.    

Present at the event were the Former Secretary to the Oyo State Government/Head of Service, Chief Bisi Adesola, Former Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Olu Abiala, Former Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Waheed Olojede, Chairman NLC Oyo State, Comrade Kayode Matings and many others.
